A proud Dallas native, Edgar Cruz has always been deeply rooted in his community. His journey into the world of fitness and wellness is the result of a unique blend of local connections, academic exploration, and a longstanding passion for social impact. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago, Edgar spent over a decade working in the nonprofit sector, serving children and families in underserved communities. His background in Sociology has given him a deeper understanding of the social determinants of health and wellness, motivating him to address the disparities in access to fitness resources, particularly for low-income communities of color.
In 2019 , Edgar made a pivotal decision to transition into the fitness industry, bringing with him his commitment to social justice and community health. This shift was driven by his desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives through health and wellness, merging his passion for helping others with his deep-seated belief that fitness can be a vehicle for social change. From his early start at FIT360 in Washington, D.C., to launching EC Fitness in Dallas, Edgar’s mission has been to provide personalized, inclusive fitness services to all, regardless of background or fitness level.
At the core of Edgar’s approach is a philosophy of goals-based training, where each program is uniquely tailored to meet the individual goals of his clients. Whether the objective is weight loss, building muscle, improving overall health, or enhancing sports performance, Edgar’s personalized programs are designed with the client’s specific needs in mind. His evidence-based methods combine strength, conditioning, and functional movement to ensure results that are both sustainable and impactful. Certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) with a Senior Fitness Specialization, Edgar is also dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. His bilingual services, offered in both English and Spanish, ensure that individuals from diverse backgrounds have access to quality fitness support. In addition to personal training, Edgar has a wealth of experience teaching group fitness classes such as HIIT, Strength and Conditioning, and Total Body Workout sessions. These classes, along with his one-on-one training, emphasize a dynamic and holistic approach to fitness.
